Do I have to pay to use Sorted House?

No – Sorted House is completely free for users. Our app allows you to find a suitable tradesperson for your job, at a convenient time, with no charge.

How do you vet a tradesperson to make sure they’re genuine?

A tradesperson must fulfil a range of criteria before they can join our network. We require evidence/copies of the following:

  • Company Incorporation Certificate or other documentation that proves existence of business
  • VAT Registration Certificate/Number (if applicable)
  • UTR number to prove registration with HMRC
  • Indemnity Insurance
  • Public/Employee Liability Insurance Certificate
  • Relevant Qualifications/Experience
  • Proof of Address
  • Photo Identification
  • Referees (Minimum of five)
Why don’t you show reviews for the tradesperson you recommend?

We believe that the current approach for finding a tradesperson is broken. You look online to find a tradesperson, compare ratings you hope are honest and wonder what the people who don’t like to leave a review would have said. You find someone who makes you feel comfortable but: can they do the job when you need it? If not, you have to start all over again. It’s time lost when all you want is your job done.

Sorted House looks to recommend to you our highest rated tradesperson who has already confirmed they are available at a time convenient for you. If you want more than one recommendation, we can offer this for you too. If we can’t find someone whose rating doesn’t exceed Sorted House standards, and can serve you in the time-frame you specify, we’ll be honest and let you know. Then, if suitable, you can increase the time-frames for your job and search again. Who we recommend matters. With Sorted House, it’s quality or nothing.

We believe that the best tradespeople don’t need to pay to advertise, they let their work do that for them.

Why isn’t Sorted House available in my area?

We currently operate in the North East of England but we are in the process of expanding our reach. Register with us and we will keep you informed. Simply download our app, fill in your details and we’ll get in touch with you when Sorted House is operating in your area.

Why isn’t a certain service available in my area?

We want to have a strong depth of tradespeople in every service we offer to ensure that you receive a quality response to your job request. Occasionally some services may be temporarily unavailable until we feel our network is of a suitable size to offer that service in your area. Register with us and we will keep you informed. Simply download our app, fill in your details and we’ll get in touch with you when Sorted House launches a new service in your area.

What do I do if I have an issue?

If for any reason you have an issue with the service one of our tradespeople is offering, please speak to them to try and resolve it. If you feel that we need to know, you can contact us we’ll do our best to help. If there’s a problem with our service, we want to know about it. When a friend gives you a recommendation, you trust it. We take pride in our efforts to offer you the same level of trust with the tradesperson we recommend for your job.

What makes you different to other sites?

At Sorted House, we believe you should only pay when we give you a job, not when we simply offer you a lead. We also believe that if we are good at what we do, we should be able to generate enough jobs so that we exist on these commission fees alone. We only get paid when you do. We don’t tell you what to charge your customers. You are carrying out the service therefore it is you who dictates the final price. We believe it is only fair that we get paid when you have completed a job. We do not ask for subscription fees just to be on our service.

The problem we see in the market is that currently, to have an online presence, many providers feel they should sign up to ratings services and directory lists. This can be as simple as advertising your company name and contact details or it can extend to paying for leads, in competition with others, in the hope that you will land the job. This potentially results in significant costs for providers that unfortunately, in some way, end up adding to the price the customer must pay. In other words, cost of acquisition for each job can be relatively high.

I get most of my work through recommendations – why do I need to join Sorted House?

It’s great to know that you are already a trusted, reliable professional that consumers want completing their jobs for them – you’re exactly the person we would love to have on our network!

Even the best still have free space in their diary at times and this is where Sorted House can help. Our leads are sent without obligation and inform you when the customer is available to receive a quote and/or a time-scale when they want their job completing. This means that if you have availability then you can take the lead and if you don’t then you can turn it down.

I don’t have much free space in my work diary – is this a problem?

No. Although the more space you have free the more likely you would be able to take a lead, since our leads are sent to you without obligation you can simply refuse them if you are unable to match the requested time-scale.

What areas do you cover?

We are currently operating in the North East of England and are in the process of expanding to other regions. Sorted House will be a national service, aimed at giving the tradesperson, and therefore the customer, a fairer deal.

Do you offer jobs for my service?

Please see our full list of services to see if your line of work is available through Sorted House.

Do I have to bid on leads?

No. Our leads are sent to you, without obligation, for free. There are no annual subscriptions or hidden fees.

What happens if I am available to quote but have missed my job offer time-slot?

We know you are busy and don’t always have time to answer a lead. Don’t worry – the lead will become yours if the next tradesperson in line doesn’t take it.

How do I contact the customer?

Once you have accepted a lead, you will receive the customers contact details, which includes their preferred telephone number. This lets you discuss the customers job at your soonest convenience. You won’t receive their property number. You can request this when you confirm with the customer that they wish to proceed and either meet with you for a quote or proceed with the job itself (as applicable).

What documents do I need to have to join Sorted House?

All tradespeople who join Sorted House must provide the following documentation as a minimum:

  • Company Incorporation Certificate or other documentation that proves existence of business
  • VAT Registration Certificate/Number (if applicable)
  • UTR number to prove registration with HMRC
  • Indemnity Insurance
  • Public/Employee Liability Insurance Certificate
  • Relevant Qualifications/Experience
  • Proof of Address
  • Photo Identification
  • Referees (Minimum of five)

You can submit these by email, through the iOS or Android app or via our desktop portal. If you have any concerns or questions, our team is available to help you.

How much does it cost?

There are no joining fees or membership costs to be a tradesperson on our network. We don’t charge for leads you accept from us as we feel it’s only fair that if you make a sale, we make a sale. On leads you convert to completed jobs, we ask for a commission payment. This is not a percentage of what you bill the customer. It is simply a set fee for each job you complete.

As an example, a window cleaner would pay Sorted House £5 for a lead we provided which they turned into a completed job, a plumber would pay £20 and a kitchen fitter would pay £60 (please note, all examples are ex.VAT). Pricing for your specific service is confirmed during registration or can be confirmed by contacting us.
